The fourth Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on Technical Cooperation Project for Capacity Development in Construction and Maintenance of Bridges in Bhutan ( CAMBRIDGE)

The fourth Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting on Technical Cooperation Project for Capacity Development in Construction and Maintenance of Bridges in Bhutan ( CAMBRIDGE) was conducted on 27th July 2017. CAMBRIDGE is a technical cooperation project between JICA and DoR for capacity development in construction and maintenance of bridges in Bhutan. The project aims to achieve the following:
1. To enable Bhutanese engineers to acquire basic knowledge on bridge engineering which is necessary for bridge planning, designing, construction and maintenance of bridges.
2. Development of Bridge maintenance manuals.
3. Development of filed checklists for quality & safety control of bridge construction.
4. Development of Bridge Management System (BMS) for systematic budgeting of Bridge maintenance works.

There are total of 10 Japanese experts in this project. They conduct seminars and workshops at the Regional Offices to impart their expertise to the field engineers. Furthermore, on-the-job training for quality and safety control of bridge construction works have been conducted to impart the know-how on how to inspect a construction site.
As discussed in the meeting from the 12th FYP, DoR will include quality and safety aspects in the contract document.
