The 5th Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) meeting for the project “Capacity Development on Countermeasures of Slope Disaster on Roads in Bhutan” was held on 16 May 2022 in the MoWHS conference hall. The meeting was attended by officials from JICA Bhutan Office led by Chief Representative, JICA Expert Team, officials from DoR led by Director General and Policy and Planning Division, MoWHS. The meeting also had representation from JICA HQ, Tokyo and DoR officials from Lobesa and Trongsa Regional Office who attended the meeting virtually.
The 4 years project which came into effect from January 2019 is jointly funded by JICA, Japan and the Royal Government of Bhutan. The progress of the project was severely hampered due to the COVID-19 Pandemic as the JICA Expert Team (JET) had to travel back to Japan in the first quarter of 2020.
With the return of the JET to Bhutan, the project resumed its activities in the month of April 2022 and accordingly the 5th JCC meeting was organized to provide an update on the revised work schedule with one-and-a-half-year extension.
A series of presentation was made by JET and DoR working group members with regard to the progress and revised work schedule for individual outputs under the project. The Project Coordinator, DoR also made a presentation on the revised monitoring sheet, a reporting tool adopted by JICA to monitor the project progress.
The meeting concluded on a positive note from the JET and DoR with full commitment towards realizing the project objectives.
